The Facilitator’s Handbook has been produced to boost IBD Nurses’ confidence in making patient group participation easier, supporting Toolkit no. 2 of the Nurse Leadership Toolkits hosted on Oyster’s IBDigest online Clinical Community.
Written by professional facilitator and Oyster Consultant, Louise Hinson, the Facilitator’s Handbook provides hints, tips and checklists around the skills needed for effective group facilitation.
It is crucial that patient volunteers enjoy the experience of taking part in a group and that an environment of trust is created to encourage participation and partnership.
The short chapters around the nine key skills draw on Louise’s comprehensive experience and will help make group meetings run smoothly and ensure that the experience is enjoyable for all concerned.
