Oyster is a member of the Compliance Hub's Agency Recognition and Training scheme.
Oyster has been awarded Web 2.0 accreditation from the Health on the Net Foundation (HON) for the Clinical Community websites.
Web 2.0 is the industry term associated with web applications that facilitate participatory information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design and collaboration.
Part of the process of HONcode accreditation involves ensuring comprehensive moderation. The Clinical Communities are automatically moderated and also by our volunteer moderator – Lara Green-Bell, registered children’s nurse.
The HONcode of conduct protects people from the vast quantities of misleading health information on the Internet. Established in 1995, the HON Foundation is dedicated to promoting and guiding the deployment of useful and reliable online health information, and its appropriate and efficient use.
The (HON) certificate serves as a guarantee that the Oyster Clinical Community’s websites comply with and pledges to honour the eight principles of the HON Code of Conduct as drawn up by the Foundation:
1. Information must be authoritative
2. Presentation of the site
3. Confidentiality
4. Information must be documented: referenced and dated
5. Justification of claims
6. User support and adequation
7. Disclosure of funding sources
8. Advertising policy.
